Program Highlights
Opening Ceremony – March 15, 2028
The Opening Ceremony is the first major goosebump moment of the National Games. When the athletes make their ceremonial entrance, the flag is hoisted, and the Games are officially opened with the lighting of the Flame of Hope, pure emotion fills the air. For the athletes, it is an unforgettable starting signal – for four days full of sport, joy, encounters, and personal achievements. For the audience, it is a moment of reflection that shows what it is really about: community, enthusiasm, appreciation, and recognition.
Competitions
For four days, athletic performance, team spirit, and the joy of participation take center stage. The athletes compete in diverse disciplines, demonstrate their skills, and celebrate their successes. Every competition is a highlight – exciting, fair, and emotional. The audience cheers along and celebrates every performance.
Supporting Program
Life pulses in the Olympic Village: during the day, exciting offerings, action, and fun from the partners await the athletes and visitors. In the evening, cool events transform the Village into a place full of entertainment, encounters, and good vibes.
Closing Ceremony
Three closing ceremonies at the venues Chur, Arosa, and Lenzerheide will conclude the National Winter Games Chur 2028. Together, athletes, coaches, and fans look back on unforgettable moments and celebrate the athletic achievements of recent days. A joyful, emotional farewell – full of gratitude, shared memories, and anticipation for the next great gathering.
Healthy Athletes
From Wednesday to Friday, all athletes can benefit from the “Healthy Athletes” preventive health screenings. This is a free offering from Special Olympics, implemented as part of the Health program.
